SC directed that accountability court is free to go ahead with verdict that it deems appropriate.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) on Saturday has sent comprehensive verdict over review petitions filed by disqualified premier Nawaz Sharif to 27 government departments.

The copies have been dispatched to Prime Minister (PM), Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) secretaries, Senate, National Assembly (NA), Natinal Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman and prosecutor general, accountability court, attorney general of Pakistan, cabinet division, law ministry and establishment division.

Interior ministry, Director General-Federal Investigation Agency (DG-FIA), chairman Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), defence ministry, DG Military Intelligence (MI), governor State Bank, all five high courts and all four provincial secretaries also received the decision.

On November 8, the top court had issued a 23-page order in review petitions submitted by Nawaz Sharif against the July 28 Panama Leaks verdict.

According to the order, the accountability court that is hearing corruption references against the family is free to go ahead with verdict that it deems appropriate in light of the evidence provided. The court maintained that six and a half years worth of salary is to be considered an asset of Nawaz Sharif and that forged affidavit was attached along nomination papers of former PM.

The Supreme Court disqualified Sharif from office in July over unreported sources of annual income of about $10,000, a salary the former premier denies ever receiving. The high court also ordered the NAB to investigate and conduct a trial into the Sharif family’s wider finances, including the London properties.

Sharif maintains control of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party, which elected close ally Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as prime minister after Sharif was disqualified.
